Dan R. Peskett Partner
Dan Peskett is a founding partner of Swainson Miki Peskett and leads our litigation group. Born and raised in Edmonton, Dan received both his Bachelor of Science and law (LL.B.) degrees from the University of Alberta and was called to the Alberta bar in 1993. A litigator since his early days practicing law, Dan has built a reputation for being an astute strategist and valued advisor for his clients.
Dan’s practice primarily focuses on commercial litigation, helping his clients with a wide array of matters including contract disputes, construction and builders’ lien issues, security enforcement, insolvency and restructuring, shareholder disputes, lease issues, and product liability claims. Dan has appeared several times in the Alberta Court of Appeal and appears
regularly in the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, Alberta Provincial Court, as well as arbitration and mediation proceedings.
Dan has a knack for strategy and insists on understanding his client’s issues before working with them to create a game plan to achieve the desired result. Dan’s guidance allows clients to advance their commercial interests in a manner consistent to what they are entitled to under law. Dan tries more than anything to ensure his clients are not wronged and their rights are not violated.
Dan uses his legal education and experience to help others, both within the firm and in the community. At Swainson Miki Peskett, Dan is an important mentor for the other litigators and an integral cog in our group. Outside of the firm, Dan volunteers at the Edmonton Community Legal Centre and is the chairman of the board of the Kids Kottage, a charitable organization that provides crisis prevention and early intervention services.
